Constructs

We sent out hundreds of constructs yearly, and we do so promptly and free. To streamline this workload, if you request a DNA sample PLEASE adhere to the following procedure and requirements:

  1. You must be a non-profit organization or academic institution.
  2. For many constructs you must fill out a MTA (material transfer agreement) which will be provided by the NKI upon request. This MTA must be SIGNED BY THE PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR or head of the lab; not by a student, postdoc, or technician) in order to receive your construct. The person signing should be able to enter into binding contractual agreements on behalf of your organization. This signature authorizes all immediate members of the laboratory to use the material but not to give it away.
  3. Requests for constructs must be communicated with Kees Jalink BY THE SAME INDIVIDUAL who signs the MTA. Due to some very time-consuming mix-ups caused by different persons asking for the constructs and signing the MTA we can no longer correspond with postdocs or students. Please relay emails etc. through your P.I. I will then ask our Technology Transfer Office to sent you an MTA to fill out. The MTA points out, among others, that the material is for non-commercial use, may not be used on human subjects, and is strictly supplied for use as is, i.e. is not available for use as starting material for further developments unless specifically agreed upon in writing.
  4. Please specify clearly the construct(s) you want, including the unique clone nr (the nr between brackets, for example H89), the paper in which they were originally reported, and a 1-2 line description of what you want to use them for. This allows us to help selecting the best choice of constructs for your needs, and to keep track of the usefulness of the constructs. In case we decide to transfer unpublished materials, you agree to coordinate your possible publication of results with us so as to prevent pre-empting our publication.
  5. Do not hesitate to mail us on unexpected performance of the constructs because it helps us improving.

Summary: Please adhere to this sequence and try to avoid unnecessary emails. You send email request to KJ > KJ arranges that TTO sends MTA > you send signed MTA back to TTO > TTO signals us that constructs can be sent out > please confirm receipt.

For all constructs click on the name of the construct to open the sequence in as a text file or click on Click to open in GC Viewer to open in Genome Compiler viewer, use Chrome as web browser.
